SacTown 10 Miler race

On Saturday morning, Jason and I headed out the door to go downtown to pick up my shirt and bib for Sunday's race.

This was the first race of the season. It was also an unexpected race. I received a free entry about 2 weeks prior. So, that meant that I had less than 2 weeks to train for 10 miles. I hadn't ran that far in a  long time.

While I was running around town, Jason took some pictures. we rarely go down there.

I'm so glad he was able to find me!

I finished! It was a pretty good race! I finished right where I wanted to. No too bad for no training. I now know what I can do.

After making a pit stop to the best cinnamon roll place (downtown) I went home, relaxed for an hour and then mowed the lawn. It's the first time we mowed, so the grass was pretty long. it was another workout!

I'm going to do the Color Run 5k in Sac with a friend in August. I can't wait!

St. Patty's Day

This was the day that we did all the planting in the front of the house. It was a very, ling, tiring day. We may it just before it started to rain hard (it was sprinkling when we finished).

While Jason was cleaning up, I went inside and made dinner. I made Shepard's pie. It was so good! I paired this with green (white) wine. I wanted green beer, but we finished them while plating.

We were just glad to have finished outside and to be warm inside. I pinched Jason for not wearing any green.

I also made Irish soda bread to snack on after dinner and before cookies (aka dessert). It was pretty good (and I hate raisins)!

It was a very long day, Izzie was even tired (seen yawning here).

Mint chocolate thumbprint cookies were eaten for dessert.

How much green beer did you drink that day?

Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day was pretty low key. I made breaded salmon, fresh green beans and mashed potatoes. I paired this with a tasty white wine.

Jason loved my red velvet cupcakes (based on his frosting mustache).

We love each other!!

I know it's late, but hope you had a happy Valentine's Day!!

Our House

Before and after photos of the house (we're not finished working on it). We've been in the house exactly 3 months today. We love having this project. It's so much fun making it our own. At first, it was like taking care of someone elses house. But, every day, we do something to it that makes it more like us. Enjoy the pictures:

We'll keep posting photos, as we finish things. Lots of projects and we're taking our time, to make sure it's right!

The cats are loving the new house. The are playing so much! They slide all over the place, all 3 of them are losing weight (its a good thing). Call me if you want to come by and see the place.

What have we been doing?

In case you are not aware (as most of you aren't), we're buying a house (FINALLY!!)!! We can't be more excited. Really, it hurts, we're so excited! This is how we're living it up this Christmas:

The cats have been really enjoying the entire packing process. Can you find Izzie?

I guess Izzie thought the paper was comfortable.

Scoutie lounging on the floor and Mickey on his ottoman.

Boxes are everywhere and nothing is on the walls. It's echoing in here. We can't wait to get the last phone call.

We just have to sign the last of the papers and we'll be out of here. It won't be before Christmas, but we're hoping it will be before New Years. After all this, I never want to buy another house again! it's almost over and these last couple weeks have been the worst!

I'll post pictures and updates as we go. If you follow Michele on facebook, you'll see everything there. Just click the link. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and a great new year!

Apple Hill

A few weeks ago, we took our annual trip to Apple Hill. We go at the perfect time of the year: It's before Thanksgiving but after Halloween and way before Christmas. So, there isn't a made rush of people there. Don't get me wrong, there were a ton of people there, just not as busy as it would have been if it were closer to those times.

I got to choose my own apples, to make my apple sauce.

I love parking in the orchard. It's so pretty.

This year, we needed to save money, so I packed us a lunch and we had a picnic in the car (because it was pretty cold outside). It was really beautiful there.

Our next mission, is to get out of this apartment and into our house. We are hopefully moving in on the 27th (at the latest, Jan 6). Everything is happening so fast. We never thought that we would have found a house that we liked, so quickly. I think it was the 3rd or 4th house we looked at on the first day (we kept looking at more, just in case, but this was the one). We've been filing out paper work galore. Now, we just wait to get the word. We spent this weekend packing books and things that we won't need until after we move. The apartment is already looking pretty bare.

As soon as we get the keys, I'll post pictures and all the info. Thanks for catching up with us!
