Busy Weekend!

This weekend has been keeping us busy. Ever since we lost Roxy, Mickey has been super lonely while we're at work. When we get home, he cries and cries. He has NEVER done that. We knew he was going to need some sort of friend here. We're not ready for another dog, so we've been thinking about a kitten.

When I got home from work, I looked to see what time the SPCA closed, which was 4pm. So, after dinner and stuff, we made our way to Pet Smart. We went to one and they only had 2 adult cats. Mickey would not be able to handle an adult cat coming into his house. A small kitten, he would treat a his little one (lie Herman). So, we went to another one and found 2 that we loved. The adoption ladies left 15 minutes before we got there. They were both boys and one was gray and white and the other was fully black. They were so playful and so cute. But, we needed to come back Saturday to adopt.

Since we knew what was at Pet Smart, I wanted to wake up early and see what was at the SPCA. We feel in love with these group of 4 kittens. They were making such a mess playing in their huge kennel. We continued to look, just to make sure. We knew we didn't want to separate anyone and leave someone by themselves. Then, we found out that black kittens were free, or you could get 1 kitten for $50 or 2 for $51. We knew we would then be getting 2. We're saving lives here. How could you argue?

We found these 2 very cute black kittens. We were able to spend some time with them (separately) and see if we liked them. The first one, didn't really click with us, so we went to the next on our list. This one was so lovable and a cuddle monkey. I knew this one was for me. The next one was so playful and rambunctious, Jason knew that was was for him. They are both little girls and about 3 months old. because they both need to get spayed, they have to stay at the shelter until they are, Friday. So, we can pick them up on Saturday morning. I'll be there right when they open.

We don't have very good photos, but here's the playful one...

Here's the love bug...

Right afterwards, we went straight to our friends kids' birthday party. It was a nice party. It was good to see our friends again. There aren't many chances where all the wives and husbands can get together.

Here's the birthday trying to hit open his Pinata. What a good idea to have in their trampoline. Easy clean up.

A few hours after we got home, my parents came over to celebrate my dad's birthday. I fixed him dinner and dessert, then we sat around and just talked for a while. I think it was a good night.

Today, we just slept in (yes not running for me this morning, I wasn't in the mood). Then we watched a movie and Jason had to get ready for work. He still works the same job. I'm still getting free stuff from my blog. Everything else is going pretty nicely.
We can't wait to pick up our little kittens next weekend. I'll post more pictures then.

Bad Weekend

This last weekend was a very tough one. Not many people may know, but our 6 year old dog, Roxy had (lymphoma) cancer. The doctor gave her 30-50 days. It's one of the worst cancers one can have. On day 38, her time was up. I talked to Jason on my lunch break on Friday. She had been going down hill for he last couple days. She really hit rock bottom within 6 hours. Everything bad started happening. Th best thing for her, was to put her down.

We were with her at the time. It was so hard, and we miss her dearly. I can't believe this actually happened to out little girl. My parents were kind enough to let us burry her in their backyard with all my childhood (and before) animals. She won't be lonely, and we can visit whenever we like. This still doesn't seem real. It's weird to come home to a quiet house (we still have Mickey, but he doesn't make much noise). There's no more midnight sips (walks) and no more taking her out before we leave the house. I truly breaks our hearts and we think about her all the time. We would give anything to not have this terrible diseases attache our little girl (as anyone would). We love you Roxy girl!!!

Roxy Girl July 2004-August 2010

On a better note, my mom took me out for an early birthday mother-daughter day. This is exactly what I needed after having such a horrible night before. We went to Target, and out to eat at Boudin's. We then walked around the Fountains and had the greatest froyo at Big Spoon. Then, we made our way over to Whole Foods. It was a great day!! Thank you so much!! I had such a great time!

On Sunday, I had girls night at my place. The theme was breakfast for dinner. I provided french toast, and the girls brought some awesome pastries, bacon, fruit salad and some yummy cheesy hash browns. It was another great night. Something else I really needed to take my mind off of things.

More great food...

I am still working on my blog and receiving free things (lots of them). I'll update with the newest items. So many to think of. Well, we're pretty busy for the rest of the month, so I'll have things to post.

Bowling & Free Goodies!!!

As I've mentioned in previous blogs, I have another blog. It's a running blog that talks about the food that fuels me for my 1/2 marathon training. It has really taken off. I've been contacting companies and asking if they want to supply samples, so I can review their products on my blog. I've emailed about 300 people. About (+/-) 20% of them has written back and said yes. A few, just sent their products and never replied. There are quite a few that I haven't heard back from.

It's crazy how many people want to read what little ol me has to say about their products. It's pretty awesome!! That blog is keeping pretty, pretty busy. I spend at least 2 hours a day on it. I blog every single day about that days workout and what I had to eat that. day. Here are some of the things I've been shipped:

This is basically a fanny pack that holds my keys and cell phone while running. Before this, I didn't run with my phone, so if something happened (like I got seriously hurt, I would be screwed).

Mint chap stick

Vita brownies/muffins (100 calorie yummy snacks)

crackers, mac & cheese, 3 different salad dressings and a tote bag

cereal

chocolates

Ginger chews and ginger energy drinks (an entire case of 24 of each!!)

An entire case (24) of energy gels

Emu lotion (helps with sore muscles and dry skin...it really works!

Tote bag, shaker, protein powders, energy bars, and even a tank top

Cookies, powders, fruit bars, energy balls

mustard

scone baking mix

energy powder

head bands that keep hair and sweat out of your face (2 of them)

stuff to make your won salad dressing (or use as a rub, marinade or anything else)

workout towels (I like the sweat is sexy best)

Yesterday, Jason had a work party that we went to. It was at a bowling alley. They served a pretty good lunch and we played 2 games. Jason won the first game and I won the last. It was pretty fun. I wish we had more time to play a tie breaker, but my mom was coming over (plus my fore arm was starting to hurt).

After bowling, I used some coupons that were sent to me. We went to Whole Foods and bought some Power bars and different brands of Greek yogurt. The total there came to about $16, but i had a coupons for everything. Pretty crazy. I'm guessing I've received over $250 in products (at least). I'm expecting A LOT more things to come I the mail over the next few weeks. I'll keep you posted of what other goodies I get.
All in all, it was a great weekend. Jason was able to get together with his friends and play some much needed games. He had a fun time, too bad he had to go to work and cut the game time short. maybe next weekend??

Such a Busy Weekend!

A few weeks ago (yes, I'm very behind on this blog), we had a very busy weekend. On Friday, right after I got home, we filled the ice chest and packed up our dinner and headed out to Rocklin for the concert in the park. The band that was going to be playing was suppose to be a classic rock band. I don;t classify Brittany Spears as classic rock.

This was before many people got there. People did not have personal space. People kept bumping in Jason and laying their crap on our blanket. So annoying.

This is us, we're getting bored, so we left a bout 1-2 songs early. The band wasn't that good. We've learned that we don't want to go to a concert in the park in Rocklin ever again. We learn the hard way. We still had some fun.

On Saturday, I didn't do my normal spin class that I do. I had to concentrate on everything I ate and when I ate because I had a night time race in Davis. I've never ran at night before, let alone a night time race. I was pretty excited.
I've been training =for my 1/2 marathon (that's coming up on May 2011), and I really wanted to lower my time for this 5k (3.1 miles). I wanted to see anything in the 30 minute range (30:59 would be fine).
We got there early, to have an OK parking spot. We got there 2 hours early and walked around and watch the band play and enjoyed some free samples of Jamba Juice. Jason had Chinese food while I watched him eat it. I snacked on a protein bar before the race. I was happy and nervous. I haven't been nervous for a race since my first one back in 2004. here's everyone around the "expo" area.

That night, they were also having a 1/2 marathon at the same time. We got a late start, and they kept us waiting at the start line. Every 5 minutes, they would say"just 2 more minutes". I wish they would have said "we're running late, it'll be a half hour". We would have be better with that. I don't know if you can see, but I'm in the middle in the pink tank top. There I go.

It was pretty nice running at night. I really liked it. The course was pretty flat and easy to see through. There weren't many dogs or strollers, which is always great! As I crossed the finish line, I saw 32:05. I looked at my Garmin and saw 30:58. I started my Garmin as soon as I crossed the start. They started their time when they said go. If you were in the back, which I was, you got your time screwed up. At least I know my really time! I'm so happy I finally did it!
Here I am, tired, and sweaty after the race.

You can see the sweat a lot better here. I was starving. I'm so glad they provided dinner. We had sandwiches from Beach Hut Deli. I love that place. It was so good and it hit the spot.

Here's my cool gear from the race. I love my new shirt. I also wore a glow bracelet so people could see me in the dark.

On Sunday, we got up bright and early (before it got too hot) and took Roxy girl to Folsom Lake to play around. She loves the lake. I took her soccer ball (her favorite to play in the water with).

She is very intense when it comes to her ball.

Whenever we walked anywhere, she carried her own ball all by herself. Such a good girl.

She loves playing in the water. She's so cute.

When we got home, it was bath time. She loves her bathes when she's dirty. I needed to wash off all the lake water...she smelt pretty bad.

This last weekend, we just hung out at home and relaxed. I've started another blog talking about my training and the foods that I eat. I've started asking people if they want to donate their products and I would review them. So many people are saying yes. I can't believe that this many people actually want to hear what I have to say about their products. Right now, I have 33 people following me. It's soo cool. I've received some of the samples, already and they are sending A TON of stuff. I may never have to go grocery shopping again. I'll try to post some pictures of some of the stuff I've received so far. I have a feeling that this weekend will be full of playing with my new toys / goodies.
