Argentina Dinner

Last weekend, I made another international dinner. This month was Argentina food. I tried to make a dessert, but it came out too bad to try to describe. I followed the recipe and everything, but the goo came out hard as a rock.

I made empanadas with a chimchirri dipping sauce and green beans. We always eat dinner outside, as much as possible (depending on the weather).

The taste of the empanadas came out perfect, I just have to work on my shape.

And, of course, I bought the Argentina beer from Bevmo. Too bad we spent $8.00 on something that tastes like Coors.

I haven't thought about what I'll make next month,m yet. But, I can't wait!

Yosemite

We went to Yosemite a couple weeks ago. We camped in our tent in Wawona campsite. All the good sites were either taken or closed to the massive amounts of snow that was still there.

Just before we got to Yosemite, we decided that we should eat before hand. We were pretty hungry and when I get hungry and can't get to the food, you don't want to be around me. We stopped at this little outdoor cafe to grab a quick bite to eat. It was really good food and excellent service!

After we set up camp, we decided to explore our campground, since it was too late to get any good hiking done. The river was in eye shot of our site. It was so nice!

The next morning, we drove out toward Yosemite Village and stopped off at Bridalveil Falls first. It didn't really need to called a "hike" because people with canes were going here. There was major mist area, but I couldn't get my body warm enough to venture up there, but Jason did. He was soaked to the bone. I'm glad I didn't go.

We walked on the street back to our car to see the beautiful scenery. I love these type of mountains.

Since this was my first visit and Jason hadn't gone since he was a child, it was so awesome to see on these things for the first time. Waterfalls were everywhere you looked.

After looking around, we went to hike to the top of Vernal Falls (no, we didn't go further to Nevada Falls, maybe next time). The first segment of the hike was to the viewing deck. Super easy hike and you got a great view!

We hiked along the mist trail for the rest of the hike. It is as they call it. It's very slippery the closer you get to the falls. We were drenched by the time we got to the top. There were over 700 stops to this trail.

AS some of you may know, I have very bad luck with stairs. So, I had to take easy step with ease. There was so way I was going to be the only one that fell during this hike. Just no way! With water dripping into our eyes, mixed with sweat, it made each step more and more difficult. Don't get me wrong, I would do it again in a heart beat!

The morning, we got up at the crack of dawn, really just 15 minutes after sun rise. We had plans to hike to the top of Upper Yosemite Falls. We were going to hike to the top of this waterfall!!

Here we are about 1 mile into the hike. It was a very strenuous hike. It took lots of muscle and determination to get the top. Even just 1 mile into it, everyone needed to stop and enjoy the view here.

Here we are about the middle area. If we wanted to turn around here, this would be the time. Along the hike, you really got to know the other hikers. I don't care for talking to new people, but some were helpful because they've hiked this trail a million times. The mist was starting to pick at this point (never got to the point of the mist trail, though).

About 3 hours later, we made it to the top! Jason didn't want to come to the very edge of the mountain with me. Don't worry, I crawled out there. It was such a great very and so much cooler up there. See all the snow, Half Dome was closed due to the snow. I've decided, we have to go back when there are a ton of people there and climb it. That mountain is on my list.

Once you're at the top, you can walk down this little trail and look over the falls. It was beautiful!

Yosemite is full of "stairs". Of course, i was the slower one coming down. Jason wanted to basically run down, but slippery me didn't want to take any chances. This is what happens when you don't watch your step (or maybe you try to show off for your wife).

The mountain was covered either in slippery sand or wet, slippery rocks. Either way, I went very slow. I think I annoyed Jason. But, I don't care because he took a lot f rest breaks coming up. He never complained, though.

We were at the top of that! We kick booty!!

We were so happy to make it to some flat ground. I had Jason pose next to the sign! It wasn't that far of a hike, but it was all up hill.

We brought all of our own food and that night, we cooked up some sausages over the hot fire, which hit the spot!

Since we had to be checked out of our campsite by non the day and we couldn't leave nay food in our truck while we hiked, we decided to take our time getting up and out. The entire trip, we saw of ton of deer, this time, they were at the next site, trying to steal some food from some people that had left. They weren't afraid of us at all.

It was such a great trip, I can't wait to go back! I wish we could go there every year, because I know we would discover something that we missed this time.

Parkway Half Marathon

On April 29th, Jason and I headed downtown to pick up my race bib and d-tag (timing chip). I was so happy!!

I had to fuel up for my race!

Race day had finally come! I used the restroom before the lines got too long, but there were a lot of places to go.

It was so cold that morning, I was trying to soak up as much warmth as I could.

Bad pipes started us off.

I'm off to the right with the red sleeves.I was just happy to get started.

Overall, the race wasn't that bad. There were only minor hills (I wouldn't really call them hills, though). There were so many spectators, which really made the race. Water and aid stations were found every 2 miles, or so. I saw Jason when I got about /1 mile away from the finish line. As soon as I saw him, a huge smile was plastered on my face. I meant so much that he would stand around for a couple of hours while I ran and be so supportive.

All the late nights at the gym and the long runs and bad attitude when I had a bad run, he was always there for me. He may not have understood all my emotions I was going through, but he was there for me.

2:15:58 later, I crossed that finish line and earned my medal.

Part of the race is the post-race lunch,

and post-race massage (all free!!).

After I relaxed a while, I tried to find my name on the finishers list, but never could. It was the next day when I found the final results.

After we got home and I took a warms shower, I tried to relax and fall asleep, but I was just too excited and on my runners high, I was wide awake.

After a sleepless afternoon, we met some friends to celebrate!!

It was such a great night! I want to thank everyone, again, for coming out and helping me celebrate!! It really means a lot.
