University Falls

On Saturday, we went to University Falls near Georgetown. We tried to find this place last time, but missed the exit. A lot of people are being told to take the directions there off their website. This is because a lot of people are hiking down with their ice chests and food, and just leaving everything by the falls. The hike was so nice. This place is VERY dog friendly. At one point, we saw 4 dogs running up to us. One was a ridge back (about 70 pounds). There was no sight of him stopping, and he went right around us. We still didn't see anybody coming down the hill. The dogs were so cute, and they smelt Roxy all over us. Then, around the bend, we see their owners. We're unable to bring Roxy with us, because she is very much an apartment dog. Half way up the trail, she would be dying on us.
We saw all the markings for the trails we needed to follow. The last trail got pretty steep (and it was muddy from the last rain). We saw a couple a cars that were left and completely totaled. I can't believe that someone would try to drive down there. Once we got to the bottom, I was so happy! The water was still pretty high, so we couldn't go down as far as we wanted. The water was so cold (fresh off the snow), there was no way we were going swimming.
Coming back up the trail was a lot easier that coming down. It was a pretty easy trail, over all. I would definitely do it again, and hopefully ride the slides! I still need to break in my boots, but it was worth all the blisters. Seeing all the snow still on the ground, hearing the owl hooting, the birds chirping, woodpeckers peaking, and the mosquito bites, is what I call a great Saturday afternoon with my husband.
After we got home and cleaned up, we went to a restaurant called McCormick and Schmidts (I think). It was a beautiful seafood restaurant. Our wait was only 45 minutes long. We had a couple of drinks (Jason was able to try a mojito), and waited outside by the mini waterfall they have. Dinner was absolutely wonderful, and dessert was fantastic. Even if you don't like seafood (they have steak, too), you'll love this place. Our waitress was great, a little over-animated, but great! A great way, to end a great day!

Our family

If you don't know much about us, here you go. Jason and I met in 2001 at a Sacramento State party. We moved in together in April of 2002. Jason finally proposed to me in July of 2004, we were married in June 26, 2005. We live in Roseville, CA. Jason is a student at Sac state and is graduating in December 2009. He major is international relation and his minor is Criminal Justice. I'm so proud of him! I am a graphic designer for Signs on Time, in Roseville since 2005. We have a 5 year old border collie named Roxy. We have a 9 year Siamese cat named Mickey. Jason's parents live in Idaho, along with his youngest sister, Jan. Jan has 2 adorable boys, Nate and Colton. His other sister, Jennina, lives near by. Michele's parents live in Orangevale. She has 2 older brothers. The oldest, Jack has a cute little boy named Justin, and a little girl named Valerie. The other brother, David has 2 little guys named Hayden and Finn. Both brothers live near Seattle. We love all of our family very much, and wish we could spend more time with them. It will be more difficult if we move across the country.

Eureka 2007

March of 2007, we drove to Eureka to spend the weekend. On our way in, stopped in Humbolt to look around. While downtown, some hippie guy asked Jason if he wanted to kick him for $1. Then, we were crossing the street (in the town center area), and I almost got hit by an old lady driving a boat for a car. She was going pretty fast, I could have gotten a lot of money! We then headed to our hotel to get ready for a night out. Who knew, no one would be out. It seems like the town closes down after 8pm. This one bar was getting ready to close at 9pm. The only thing that was open was a grocery store. We bought some beer and walked back to our hotel. When we woke the next morning, it was raining. We drove to the redwoods and walked on the trail there (once again, the mosquitoes were horrible). There were some beautiful trees, and so big. Across the street, there were some wild Elk eating on a huge patch of grass. It seemed like they didn't even notice that cars were stopping. West of Eureka, we found some dunns on the beach. The waves were crashing, and the sea life was alive and talkative. It was the perfect view for a sunset. We couldn't leave Eureka without stopping at the Bigfoot store. It was just like in those movies. Dark, rainy, creepy, and sounds coming from the trees you didn't know what they were. The next morning, it was still raining. We needed to eat before we left to go home. The only place that was open was a bagel shop. It seemed like the entire town was in this one shop. The streets were empty as we left, and the rain was coming down. (Just like in those scary movies, that's always how they end).

Camping

W went camping for a long weekend in Eldorado National Forest. There were some great light hiking trails. Roxy had a blast because our site e found was on a steep hill. She was able to throw her ball down the hill, and run back up. There was a point that we had to take here ball away from her and lock her in the tent. We couldn't have her give up on our hike we were about to do. We hiked to this water fall (which wasn't too much because of the time of year). Once again, Roxy found a hill into the water, but this time it was too slippery to get out of. We needed to stay in the water while she played (to get her ball). This weekend tired her out! The only down side was all the mosquitoes. We had to eat dinner inside our tent, in order not to inhale the bugs. Once the sun came up, the bugs went away. It was a great long weekend!

Tahoe 2007

The best time to go to Tahoe is when it's raining. There's no one around. We were the only ones on the beaches and walking around. The casinos were also empty. Because of that, one casino was having a dollar day. We got a beer and hot dog for $1. I love finding good deals. While we were on one beach, there was this duck that kept following us around. It was like a little lost dog. I wish we had some bread to feed it. Another great day with the best husband.

Auburn Hike

We were bored one day and decided to take a hike up in Auburn. There weren't a lot of people around. Roxy loves getting muddy and wet. It was such a nice day to enjoy.

Jason's 35th Birthday

For Jason's birthday, we went to San Fran for the day. We rode the BART into town. Our first stop was a little Irish pub. It had a rugby game on the TV. Neither of us know about rugby, so we were trying to figure it out. We were annoying the other people, because of the chit chat we were making. Across the street, we hit up the natural history museum. Jason loves any type of history. They were doing some construction, so it made it mostly in the works, and a little small. Afterwards, we just walked around people watching. in Little Italy, they had the best gelato, and Jason had some espresso. There were so many people there, it made it real easy to people watch (one of our favorite things to do out of town). Riding the BART home, so late was very different. There must have been a rave going on that night. We love getting gout of town!

Snow time

Every year, I must visit the snow at least once.

Roxy likes to come with us. She's a little confused about snow balls. When you catch a snow ball, you're not suppose to be bale to eat it. She's getting to be a little too old for the snow, though. She's turned into an apartment dog. Her paws get too cold. This is our Little family (minus Mickey).

Chico

We wanted to drive to Chico to eat and drink at the

Sierra Nevada brewery. We made the trip and drank and ate until we could no longer move. Chico is such a cute town, they have an adorable park across from the university. We spent about a hour there playing around. This was a nice spring time trip.

4th of July 2008

Fourth of July is a time where of of our friends gather at Patrick's house to blow stuff up. He's such a great host! We all get together and catch up with one another. It's family, friends, adults, children. Everyone is in one spot at one time (a very rare occurrence). When darkness falls, the guys put on a show for us ladies. Alcohol, lighter fluid and matches are not a good combination, but makes a great show (no injuries yet). We love this time we spend with everyone and can't wait for next year!

Marine World May 2008

Since Jason was going to his gaming convention, I made him take me to Marine World. I thought it was going to be cheaper than Great America. I figured out the pricing, (including gas), they come out to be about the same. I love roller coasters. I could ride them all day long. Jason can't say the same. The lines weren't that long. We were able to ride everything at least once. After lunch, we took in the whale show (to settle the stomachs). It was such a hot day, even the elephants needed to be sprayed down. W went into the butterfly exhibit (even with the heat). For all those that know me, I hate bugs and insects. When the butterfly landed on my foot, I was so glad that I didn't scream. When we left the butterfly exhibit, it felt a little cool outside. Towards the end of the day, we found a fountain that all the kids were playing in, we decided to join in the fun. It was a fun, but hot day!

Tahoe June 2008

So, we went to Tahoe just for "super nachos". We started with a hike to Emerald Bay, to work up our hunger. We made a couple hour hike, then headed to the main strip for the nachos and beer. The food and service was worth the trip (not likes Tahoe is that far from us). I would do it again!

Michele's 27th Birthday #1

The "real" present Jason bought me for my birthday was a trip to L.A. to see our favorite music artist, Serje Tankian (Previously from System of a Down). He has went on his own. His music talks about the Armenian Genocide, bringing awareness about the things that were done. I was so awesome to see him live, in concert. Serje is from L.A., so it felt like he really gave us a concert. He even preformed a few encores. While we wee in L.A., we saw the sights. Because I never really went there, it was all new to me. We walked the strip, and saw the weird people that hang out there. Our hotel had a great view! On our way out, we stopped at Venice beach and went swimming. I had been wanting to get henna for a while, so I did. Our dinner was free and right on the beach. What a way to go out! I had the greatest birthday (that I can fully remember). What a wonderful husband I have!
