Tahoe

Wish we could have gone up there...plenty of snow

It was such a great day for a road trip to Tahoe

Here's the best pub ever

Crazy amount of nachos (the 2 guys in the back are also sharing the same nachos)

The view from the balcony

I've been wanting to go to the snow and play. I love snowball fights and sledding and making snow angels. I did grow up in Orangevale, so there was never any snow. I always loved it when my brothers would bring snow home from their trips. That was always the highlight of my winters.
A few weeks ago, I went to my parents house and took my sled they were storing for me. I don't really remember ever being on it, but what a better time than now to be a kid. I talked Jason into getting up early and driving to Tahoe. Tahoe has something we both like...now and McP's Irish Pub. Now, this Irish pub is the best! They have the biggest nachos and the best (not for a bad price). We stumbled across this pub the last time we were here. I want to go back every time we go.
When we first arrived in Tahoe, Jason needed coffee badly (this is because he is on a weird sleep schedule because of work)! I knew of this little coffee house just before the lake. We were the only ones there for a very short time. This older lady and her teenage son came in. I found out too much about her. She was a school teacher that was having trouble finding someone to cover her classes and her and her family were on vacation. I knew all of this because she was shouting on her cell phone and passing throughout this teeny tiny coffee cafe. It was like someone talking on their phone in your bedroom. This lady made call after call after call. I lost count of how many calls she made in the 20 minutes she was there. I felt bad for her son. What quality time she was spending with him on their vacation.
My main goal of this trip was to play in the snow. Silly us, thought there wold still be enough. If we wanted to really play, we would had to gone to the top of Heavenly and slid down it (no we weren't going snow boarding). Since my plans were a bust, we ended up walking around the art galleries and checking out the local artists. There was pretty nice stuff!
Once we got hungry, we made our way to the best Irish Pub ever (right across the "street" from Heavenly). We sat out on their enclosed balcony. We always share the nachos and grab a couple pints of beer. They were just as great as we remembered! Can't wait until we go back (hopefully sooner than later).

Folsom Lake

Not a cloud in the sky

I made to the top!

Pretty flower

Just a little hazy

So many people

Just another quiet day

That's us

Snowy hill tops

This was such a great weekend! We started the weekend by going and doing errands on Saturday. We went to this gaming garage sale (no luck, though), and we ended up stopping by this miniature place and buying a couple of little people to paint. Now, I'm not into painting, but Jason talked me into painting this character girl with him. I think it could be fun. We'll see how well I paint her.
On Sunday, we went to Folsom Lake for a while and hung out. The sun was bright, not a cloud in the sky and it was a little warm. Such a great day! It was also the first day for daylight savings. I love it when it stays lighter longer. Here comes outdoor running! After the lake, we grabbed lunch at the Habit. Great burgers. We haven't had fast food in about 2 months (if you call Subway fast food).
Another great thing about this weekend is that we got out tax return back. Time to pay off some bills and book our trip to LA. We are looking forward to a nice, relaxing, long weekend away. I think it will be mostly clubs and beaches, maybe some hiking. Oh, what a perfect weekend that will be. It will have all my sides: lots of outdoors, hiking and partying. Can't wait.
Speaking of running outdoors, I think I will start running around Maidu Park after work on Thursdays. Since, the park is about 1/2 mile from my work. It is very safe and a lot of friendly people are running around at that time, anyways. Once I start training, I will log my miles on our blog. Can't wait until next weekend, we will be going to Tahoe (that Monday) and play in the snow, a little hike and some great nachos at our favorite outdoor pub!

River City 1/2 Marathon

Roxy always wants to be the center of attention

Where's Michele??

Things around here have been our "usual" busy. Jason is still working with Gap, and trying to get of his errands done during the day. I am still a graphic designer with the same company. I usually go to the gym about 5 days a week. I have decided to take this week off. I am going to be planning and training for the April 2011 River City 1/2 Marathon. A 1/2 marathon is 13.1 miles. This race is along the American River. It will be hard and challenging, but that's what I want right now. Since I have never ran further than 3.1 miles (my 5K's) I am going to start to train in May. I can't wait. I'm going to get on a stricter diet and try to run about 3-5 days a week. Here's the link to the race for this year: http://www.rivercitymarathon.com/
A friend of mine has sent me a link to www.gmap-pedometer.com. This is a google maps that you can map out a distance and it will tell you how many miles and a estimate of calories you may burn. I love it!! I'm going to be busy until May trying to figure out my new diet and training schedule. It will take some time and a lot of effort. I am set for this and this is what my body needs right now. Cheer me on everyone. I will keep you updated on everything as I go.
