OktoberBrewFest 5k

On Saturday, I ran another 5k (3.1 mile race). This one was in Davis, Ca. Jason was so nice and accompanied me. This was given by Sudwerk Brewery. What a cool brewery it was. The beer was fantastic.

This was the first year for this race. It was pretty crazy. I could tell that it was the first race. In order to get to the start line, we had to climb over a guard rail to get to the highway, where they would be closing down the roads. It was pretty crazy. It was kind of funny watching some people climb over it.

Here are all the people starting. I'm in the somewhere.

Here's the band that kept the spectators company while they waited for us to finish. They also had a yodeling contest, costume contest, and a bratwurst eating contest.

Here I am passing mile 3...only .1 miles to go. Photos thanks to the best hubby ever!!

Home stretch!!

In line to hand them my bid slip.

At the end of the race, the runners received a free pint glass (and it was filled for free). Here, me and Jason are waiting the huge line for my free pint. The beer was so worth it.

Oktoberfest!!

Enjoying my free pint.

After I finished my free beer, I was starving, so we walked about 1/2 mile to grab some Mexican food. This was the best Mexican food I've ever had. It wasn't bad for the money, either. The burritos we had were huge!! We were so full, we couldn't even finish them...left overs!!
Here's the shirt and pint glass I received (along with Scout smelling everything that was new).

Jason is working his last 2 days at Gap. He got a new job with Social Security. He will finally be on days. I will be getting my husband back. I can't wait! I'm more excited than he is. I miss having him at home (at night). It sucks only seeing him at night, when I'm half asleep, or morning when he is sound asleep. He starts on Wednesday. In a few weeks, he has training. The training will take place at the facility about 45 seconds away from our house. He will have training for a few months.
This job gave him more money and better hours. I think this is defiantly a plus. The first few weeks, he will be totally cranky. It's gotta be hard to get on a completely different work/sleep/eat schedule. Wednesday will be the hardest. He works on Tuesday until midnight and then Wednesday at 8am in Sacramento.

Lots of Busy Weekends

Our night and days are so busy lately. Every weekend is extremely full. Jason still has the same job, and I'm still training for my first 1/2 marathon. I'm on month 5 (out of 11). Everything is going well. The kittens are keeping us busy, as well. Izzie is taking charge (over Scout). She steals Scouts sleeping spots and loves all the attention she can get. Izzie now sleeps in the game room, when she wakes up, she sits on the corner of the couch and cries until you pick her up.

The cutest thing is that she carries around this little blue monkey (that was Roxy's). She plays with it, sleeps with it and carries it around the house. It's the cutest thing!

Here's the battle picture:

Scout completely crashed out on the back of the couch.

Me & Izzie. They are both big cuddle bugs.

Izzie cuddling with the monkey. Giving it a big hug.

last weekend, we went to the Lincoln Showcase. My work did the signs and we got free tickets. The Showcase is a big show that gives out samples of different types of local foods. It was a lot of fun. We went a couple of years ago and Jason got so sick, from trying so many types of foods. This year, we didn't eat so much, so fast. We took our time and enjoyed the food. There was a lot of wineries, a couple types of beer, lots of pizzas, Italian, Mexican, and a ton of bakeries. It was so much fun, and the best thing is that it was completely free!
This week, Jason took some time off of work and worked on some stuff that he trying to do my make a game. it's pretty big and takes a ton of time. He's making the board from scratch (it's about 4'x7') and painting and everything. He's doing such a great job. I'm so very impressed what his imagination can bring to real life.
Since, he had some time off of work , we decided to go camping this last weekend. We went to Lake Berryessa. Neither of us had been here before and wanted to check it out. The lake was so dried up and everything was so dry. We still had a lot of fun and were able to relax a lot!
Here is our camp site area. Our little dinner table:
The view from our camp site. The lake was suppose to be right up to our site. Look how low the lake is.

We had to go for a hike to try to get to the lake. We had some animals watching us.

Here I am after we went swimming. It wasn't too cold or anything. It felt really nice to jump in.

Here we both are after the swim.

We didn't want to set up a tent just for one night of camping, so we camped in the back of the truck. It was pretty comfy.

Right before we started getting dinner and a fire ready before it got too dark. We had such a great night!

Jason warming up the chili (that I made the night before). Yummy!!

The next day, we drove to the other camp ground (about 20 minutes away) and went for a hike. Again, the lake was so low and everything was so dry, we weren't expecting to see anything cool. We ended up seeing some lake otters hanging out. They were so cute swimming around.

Here's the other side of the lake. It was a nice day out!

We hiked back to the truck and drove home. We were excited to see our little girls (and of course, Mickey). This is the longest they've been alone (even Mickey). They all did great!!They were so excited to see us. They all got a lot of attention. We un-packed and relaxed the rest of the day.
I am starting something new. Once a month, I will be cooking dinner and dessert from another country. Saturday, I will start with French. I'm pretty excited. I hope everything turns out ok. That will be my next post.
