Cornish X-mas, Races and Shopping

On Friday night, I was able to get off of work early, so I could run some errands and prepare some x-mas gifts that we were going to mail out the next day.

We were headed out the door as soon as Jason got home from work. We drove to Grass Valley to check out the Cornish Christmas. It sounded interesting. It was a fun night. There were guys roasting chestnuts over an open fire.

Carolers singing Christmas songs.

Of course, we had to grab something to eat there. We each had a bratwurst (that was pretty delicious).

There were creepy snowmen (that weren't suppose to be creepy).

And everything was decorated in twinkling Christmas lights and was very Christmassy.

We enjoyed our night, but 1 1/2 hours was too far to do this next year. If was still fun, though. If you live closer, you should check it out!

Saturday was another early day, I had another Christmas 5k to run. This time it was in Davis. I wanted to run without any pain. I didn't care about my time.

I finished the race in 33:48 (only 4 minutes slower than my best time) and had no pain. That means that I can start back on the treadmill tomorrow! Check out all the post race grub! Yum!!

After the race, we drove straight to the post office to mail out all the far away families gifts. If this is you (you know who you are), you should be expecting a package probably sometime next week.

On Sunday, Jason had his monthly game time with his friends. The only difference with this month is that he made the game. From the directions, to the board, he made it all. I'm so proud of him. He's so creative to do something like this.

While he hung out with his friends, I did some x-mas shopping. Jason is the last person I have. I only have 2 more things I need to buy for him. Afterwards, I met up with an old friend that I lost contact with and hung out for a while. It was nice seeing her. We meet up at Starbucks and caught up over some coffee.

It's been a busy weekend and all we want to do is curl up on the couch and relax while we catch up on some shows. We need to relax for this week of work and another crazy busy weekend, next week. Can't wait!

Families, Races and Christmas

This weekend was a busy one. I like it that way, not too sure if Jason does, but oh well. He's very supportive. He knows I love this time of year and is willing to participate in what ever I have planned.

On Friday night, we had Jason's dad over for dinner. He's in town for work and wanted to catch up. It was a nice visit. I made spaghetti for dinner and Jason has always cut it up. I've always thought that was weird and had wondered where he got it from...

It looks like he gets it from his dad.

On Saturday morning, I had my 5k (3.1 miles). This was really a test run to see how my foot would hold up and see if I could get back ito my run schedule. This race was in Cameron Park and was called Run with Santa. I loved these balloons.

It was so cold that morning, I froze. I couldn't wear too much, because I get really hot after I warm up. It really woke me up, though.

This little boy was so cute. He was running all over the place (not during the race, though). He looked so cuddly. I love his crocks.

Here's Mrs. Clause posing for us. She really stole the show. We kind of ran away from Santa (he didn't run with us).

And we're off.

Home stretch. The race was a lier. It ended up being 3.68 miles (in 44 minutes). I needed to walk a portion of the race. This is because my knee was giving me problems. My foot is great! You can kind of see the pain in my face.

I got a pancake breakfast afterwards and shared it with Jason. he was so kind to suffer through the freezing cold and take pictures for me. He deserves so much more! I have a very supportive hubby that cheers me on.
On Sunday,we had my parents over for an early Christmas. My mom leaves this week to go to Seattle for about 3 weeks. So, we had x-mas here. We had a brunch, opened packages and played my dad's new game (Rumikub). He won majority of the time. I think he cheats. He was hiding tiles and trying to play pieces that didn't go. If you play games with him, better watch him carefully.

My dad got his game, my mom got some stackable heavy duty plastic bowls with lids, Jason got some great books and I got my bowl for my mixed and some awesome reflective running gear. I can now run out in the dark and feel safer than before. It seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves.
This weekend really tired us out, so after my parents left, we just relaxed and watched some tv. We were happy to be able to do everything we (I) had planned and see everyone. Next weekend is another busy one. Some more x-mas festivities, a race and playing games and visiting old friends. Until next weekend!
