March of 2007, we drove to Eureka to spend the weekend. On our way in, stopped in Humbolt to look around. While downtown, some hippie guy asked Jason if he wanted to kick him for $1. Then, we were crossing the street (in the town center area), and I almost got hit by an old lady driving a boat for a car. She was going pretty fast, I could have gotten a lot of money! We then headed to our hotel to get ready for a night out. Who knew, no one would be out. It seems like the town closes down after 8pm. This one bar was getting ready to close at 9pm. The only thing that was open was a grocery store. We bought some beer and walked back to our hotel. When we woke the next morning, it was raining. We drove to the redwoods and walked on the trail there (once again, the mosquitoes were horrible). There were some beautiful trees, and so big. Across the street, there were some wild Elk eating on a huge patch of grass. It seemed like they didn't even notice that cars were stopping. West of Eureka, we found some dunns on the beach. The waves were crashing, and the sea life was alive and talkative. It was the perfect view for a sunset. We couldn't leave Eureka without stopping at the Bigfoot store. It was just like in those movies. Dark, rainy, creepy, and sounds coming from the trees you didn't know what they were. The next morning, it was still raining. We needed to eat before we left to go home. The only place that was open was a bagel shop. It seemed like the entire town was in this one shop. The streets were empty as we left, and the rain was coming down. (Just like in those scary movies, that's always how they end).
