A Birthday Sandwiched with a Half Marathon

Last month was Jason's 39th birthday. We agreed that we would have a party for his 40th, next year and keep it low key this year. His actual birthday feel on a Wednesday. So, I made his favorite dinner. It started with fresh bread.

The main course was Shepard's Pie. He seemed to really love it. he told me that he could eat it every day, if I would make it every day.

Paired with the Irish dinner was his favorite drink, black and tan.

On Saturday, he had the guys over and they hung out all day playing boards games (their favorite thing in the world to do) and I bought them pizza. Don't worry, I stayed out of the way and watched some girlie shows in the game room.

The next day, I had my last half marathon of my season. Jason was a good sport about getting up early to hang out in the cold while I ran 13.1 miles. He was also my photographer. Here's the start line.

The race is call ed The Urban Cow. It takes place in Sacramento, so that's why there's so many cow cows (it's a cow town). Jason told me to never wear red and black to another race. It was very difficult to fin me. I guess everyone wears those colors to every race. he made me pose next to the cow.

I have to say that this was the best race I've ever done. I can't wait to race it next year! here I come in to cross the finish line at 2:26:58.

This is Jason's shot. He kept cutting off my head.

Third half marathon finished!! Now, it's time to hurry up, get home, cleaned up and off to a brewery to finish celebrating Jason's birthday!

Once I de-funked myself, we were off for our 2 hour drive to Petaluma to eat lunch at one of our favorite brewery. We've never been there before, but we love their bottled beers. We went to Lagunitas Brewery. Their logo is a jack russel dog, and they had it all over their glasses. very cute!

At the brewery, they had some indoor seating, but it was mostly outdoors. There was a lot of sand and it was a very laid back setting. A band happened to be setting up when we got there. Perfect timing!

Here's Jason after a few beers, relaxing and just having a great time! he really enjoyed the day!

Pretty casual setting.

After eating and drinking, we explored the downtown area and grabbed some coffee in a cute little coffee shop. It was a very long day and we were extremely tired. I still had a 2 hour drive in front of us. It was pretty dead there, so we just drove back home. We had a great time, but really wanted to be home.

We've been spending our last few weeks with friends and hanging out, just having a nice time. We've been determined to stay home and relax and not do anything. it's been nice! Jason had surgery on his leg (nothing to worry about), and the incision has opened up. So, now he's taking some time off of work with his leg up while it heals. I'm trying to take the best care of him, as possible (and not let him walk around too much). Hope it gets better soon, our weekends are filing up quickly, again.
