Loving the Busy Summer

This will be a long post, but mostly pictures! This summer has been so busy, but we're enjoying every moment of it.

I'm still running. I'm currently training for my 3rd half marathon and loving what I'm doing.

I work really hard, that sweat dries and leaves salt.

The cats are doing well. Izzie feels that she has grown up and a big cat now (the girls are 1 year now). She now eats on the counter with Mickey. Izzie is very much a daddies girl (even though I chose her).

Scoutie is very much a mommies girl. She always cuddles with me every night (hot or not). She's my cuddle bum.

Last weekend, I made my international dinner for July. I made some Russian food. Dessert was an apple cake type of thing.

Dinner was a pasta salad and a boiled pasta with meat inside. Everything wasn't that great, but we finished everything.

Since Borders is going out of business, we made a trip there last weekend. Jason bought some international books and these are what I bought.

Since I have a triathlon in the back of my head (maybe next year or two years out), I want to make sure I like every part of it. I know I love running and biking, but swimming was questionable. A couple weeks ago, I started doing laps in the pool. I like, but haven't started loving it, yet. I know I will after some time.

A couple weeks ago, I got free tickets to a small, local theater. So, Jason and I decided to go. The play was really made for older people, we didn't really get the jokes (they were out dated). Afterwards, we stopped for some apple pie and coffee at an outdoor cafe.

Here's the main set of the play.

We had some time to kill before the play, so we walked across the street to this little pub and got some drinks and muchies.

Once a month, I run a 5k with my friend, Kelly. She wants to get in shape and start running. I love helping when it comes to this type of thing

My brother, David and his family made their summer vacation down here (from Washington). It was great to see them. We haven't seen them in a few years. The boys are getting so big!

While they were here, we spent some time swimming and hanging out outside. My parents had a bbq with everyone (cousins and cousin's kids) and had a great time!

The day before they got in town, I had my 2nd half marathon. It was the toughest thing I've ever done. I ended up getting food poisoning during the race. I thought that it may had been just from the race, but it wasn't.

Right after I crossed the finish line.

My medal (it glows in the dark).

My "professional" race photo.

The weekend before the race, Jason and I went to music in the park. As you can tell, there was a lot of gray in the audience.

I thought the music was swing music, but it was big band instead. It was a lot slower than I was expecting. It was still fun, though. We brought dinner and made an entire night out of it.

Fourth of July with our friends was a blast, as usual. Here's the show.

The guys setting up the show. It takes a lot of concentration.

Here's the stash.

June 26th was our 6th wedding anniversary. I had Jason plan everything (I normally do). He took me out to Tres Agraves (a tequila bar/restaurant) and my favorite yogurt place.

Jason had a dozen red roses sent to my work, the Friday before. It was the sweetest thing! I really did get lucky and marry the best man possible!

A few weeks before out anniversary, Jason had his gaming weekend in the bay area. He had a blast. He made his own board (pictured) and hosted his own game. I'm so proud of him and how creative he is. He did such a great job. His friends were talking about for a while (a still sometimes do).

May's international dish was Argentina food. We really loved this one. I made empandas with chimchurri sauce and normal green beans. It was cool enough to eat it outside. It was great. This recipe was a keeper.

Summer just keeps getting busier and busier (all filled with great things). Hopefully, I'll have to blog sooner than a few months from now. Things will chill out once summer is gone (which we don't want). We have birthdays, friends gatherings, another half marathon and holidays coming up. I can't wait for all the excitement!
